The industry of air travel has developed rapidly in the last 100 years with very little interruption. However with the introduction of drones to existing airspace, threats are becoming more apparent as data emerges of the chaos they can cause if introduced into high traffic areas.
An incident near to the UK’s Gatwick airport, where a drone was spotted on the airport’s final approach path caused the runway to be closed for two separate periods, has understandably received a lot of press coverage.
Although beautiful, this visualisation highlights just how serious aviation specialists and authorities take this new threat.
